Terms

Last changed 20 September 2026. These describe how the service actually works. If something below turns out not to match what we do, the sentence is wrong and we will fix it.

mikaelbuilds and First Hire are operated by Syneron Technologies Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong under company number 79999193, registered office 3906, 39/F, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong. Your subscription is an agreement with that company. You can reach a person at hello@mikaelbuilds.com, before or after buying anything, and it is answered within one business day. Card payments are taken and held by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

What you are buying

A First Hire subscription is two things, delivered together:

The limits on both are published on the offer page and they are part of this agreement: up to 10 pages, unlimited small edits under fair use, two new pages or sections a month, one agent on one channel, a ceiling of 100 researched prospects a week on the prospecting pack, capped outbound email, rate-limited research, and no cold messages sent by the agent to anyone.

Fair use, defined rather than left to us. A small edit changes something already on your site: wording, a price, opening hours, a phone number, a photo swapped, a section reordered. It is not a new page or section (that is the two a month), a redesign, or a new feature. If your requests stop being edits and become a rebuild, we say so and discuss it with you; we do not silently slow down or start declining.

The 100 researched prospects a week is a ceiling, not a commitment. What a given week produces depends on how narrow the ideal customer you described is. We do not promise a weekly count.

Price, billing and the founding 100

Cancelling

One click, on your own billing page, which you reach from your Stripe receipt or by asking your agent for the link. There is no cancellation form, no retention call and no notice period. Cancelling stops the next charge. Your site and your agent keep running until the end of the period you already paid for, and your data is exported to you at that point.

Refunds

If you ask for a refund of your most recent charge — monthly or annual — you get it, without being asked why and without a conversation you have to sit through first. That scope is stated in the same words on the offer page, because a limit you discover after buying is worse than the limit itself.

We send the refund on the day you ask. Stripe and your bank then typically take 5 to 10 business days to put it back on the card; that clock is theirs, not ours. Cancelling is a separate action and does not by itself refund the period you are in.

What we build, and when

Your site and your agent go live within 7 days. Those 7 days start when your onboarding is complete, not when you pay. Onboarding is a conversation that ends with a written brief you read and confirm; until that brief is confirmed, the clock has not started, because the brief is the thing being built from.

If we cannot deliver within 7 days of a completed onboarding, tell us and we refund you. We do not promise a business result of any kind, from the site or from the agent. We promise the thing, working, to the brief.

Your own AI key

The agent runs on an AI key you create and own, at a provider of your own — OpenRouter unless you tell us otherwise, because it lets you put a hard spend cap on the individual key. That account, that card and that bill are yours. We do not resell you AI usage, we do not add a margin to it, and we do not pay for it. Expect roughly $5 to $15 a month on the model pinned by default for the enquiry-answering side of the job; the prospecting pack uses more than that and we have not finished measuring it, which is why the spend cap on your key is the thing that bounds it. If you remove the key or its limit is reached, the agent stops doing the things that need a model until you fix it, and the routines that do not need one keep running.

What the agent will not do

What is yours

What we need from you

Availability

Your site is monitored and backed up daily, and your agent runs on its own instance rather than sharing one with other clients. We are not offering an uptime percentage, because we are not going to print a number we have no mechanism to compensate you against. What we do instead is watch it, tell you when something breaks, and fix it.

Ending it from our side

We can decline or end a subscription. Realistically that means: illegal use, use aimed at deceiving people, an attempt to get the agent to send cold or bulk messages around the limits above, or non-payment. If we end a subscription for any reason other than non-payment, we refund the period you are in.

If these terms change

We will say so on this page, with the date, and tell subscribers by email when the change affects what they are paying for. A change to these terms does not change the price you joined at.

The wall

The Founder's Hall of Fame on this site is free, and it is not part of what you are buying. Nothing on it is for sale. A number, a rank or a place on it cannot be bought, and buying a subscription does not buy one either; no payment changes any position on it, and no amount of reposting, replying or referring changes the price you pay or whether a founding seat is available to you. It is recognition. The product is the subscription described above.

Reaching us

hello@mikaelbuilds.com reaches a person, whether or not you are a customer, and is answered within one business day. If you already have an agent, asking it is faster and is the route we built for this; replying to the email address on your Stripe receipt works too.
